The old stories are rarely the worst for being retold again and again

The old stories are rarely the worst for being retold again and again, just so long as the retelling is good. And in the hands of Nikki Dean, the retelling is very good indeed.
Frisky is an apt description for this modern twist on the classic fairy tale: despite the warning about mature content, the tone throughout is playful and lighthearted, even as the sexual tension steadily builds.
This story, the first part of three, skillfully weaves homages to the iconic films of Jean Cocteau and Disney, in a fun, feisty tale. In the gloomy castle in the snowy forest, the first glimmers of romance between the mercurial Beast and the feisty Belle begin to flower. And yes, budding eroticism, too.
The reader is left very much anticipating the next instalment in this delightful series from this promising new author.
