Save VHS!

Left: Decomposing nitrate film, and, right, piles of VHS tapes set for destruction.

Twitter horror film fan Sluts and Guts recently tweeted about VHS recycling. I don’t know a lot about this: VHS video cassettes went the way of the pianola roll a long time ago (and I believe VHS recorders have ceased production?), and apparently there is now a push to get rid of old cassettes by recycling them.

Sluts and Guts commented:

Fact: There are tens of thousands of movies that were released ONLY ON VHS. There are no digital versions of these films and with #VHSrecycling happening now, many films may be lost forever. #VHSpreservation

This reminded me of another all-but-vanished era of cinema: nitrate films.

Wonderlust 3 is live!

For all my overseas readers, it’s the Australia Day long weekend, so I’ve been spending the day cooking up a massive barbecue with my family and drinking strawberry daquiris.

But! At last! Wonderlust 3: A Girl for Tea is finally live on Amazon.

As Alyson lay on her back, panting heavily, Milliner leaned over her and planted a sticky, sweet kiss on her lips. Her blond hair fell about them like a lilac-scented curtain.

“Do you know what time it is, Alyson?” she asked.

Alyson struggled to focus. “Time…? Why… no, I–”

It’s time to eat me!” shrieked Milliner suddenly, making Alyson start with fright. Her heart pounding, Alyson tried to sit up, while Milliner hopped up on to the table as well, sending more tea things crashing to the ground.

In the third installment of the Wonderlust series, Alyson gets into a sticky situation with an amorous bear, witnesses a midsummer night tryst between the fairy queen and a donkey-man, and ends up as a sweet treat in a mad – and sexy – tea party.

But it’s not all fun and erotic games. In book two, A Hookah-Smoking Caterpillar, Alyson first encountered the darkness growing in Wonderlust. In A Girl for Tea, she comes face-to-face with the darkness again.
